Mekong Delta day tour – Cai Rang floating market

Mr. Ninh arranged a wonderful trip for us from Saigon to the Cai Rang floating market. I tried to arrange a day trip to Cai Rang with other more reviewed Mekong delta tour groups with no luck. They would only go to Cai Be in one day, which is not the same as Cai Rang. If your so lucky to be in the Mekong Delta, then my feeling was we need to see the real floating market. Mr. Ninh was very easy to communicate via email and came to our hotel the day before to collect our payment. ..

Day 1: Hanoi – Arrival

Arrival in Hanoi. We welcome you at the airport and transfer you to hotel. After check in the hotel, our guide takes you to visit some famous places in Hanoi.

You will start the tour by visiting Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ho Chi Minh Museum. Enjoy the architectural and historical aspects of Uncle Ho’s final resting-palace. Just next door is Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts where he used to live in the past. Lying to one side of the Mausoleum is the One Pillar Pagoda, built by King Ly Thai To in 1049 the structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi. Continue to visit the Temple of Literature (Quoc Tu Giam) – Vietnam’s first University constructed in 1070. Its gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past.

Have lunch at local restaurants. Proceed to visit the Ethnology Museum. After that we will take you to Hoan Kiem Lake, see the peaceful water, and visit Ngoc Son Temple. Take an hour cyclo tour around the bustling old quarter to see the ordinary life in Hanoi.

At 18.00, Back to your hotel. It’s your free time now to have dinner and a short while to explore the streets of Hanoi. At 10 pm, You will travel overnight train up lao Cai via Sapa. Stay overnight train.

Day 2 : Sapa – Cat Cat and Sin Chai – Sapa ( B-L-D ).
5.30 AM: Arrive at Lao Cai train station. Our staff will pick you  up with the sign of your name then transfer to Sapa.
7:00 AM: A morning shower could be offered after or before Breakfast as your request.
9:00 AM: Check in  the hotel then start a new day by a short trek about 3km down to  Cat Cat Village –  the home of H’mong minority, visit Tien Sa waterfall and also have chance to take part in a performance art of H’Mong boy and girl.
After that continue trekking to visit Sin Chai village where you can see spectacular views of the beautiful valley towards Fansipan-highest peak in Vietnam and Indochina; and Black Hmong ethnic minority, see people weaving,embroidering and dying their clothes,… then  take a Jeep/van back to Sapa.
Lunch at the restaurant  and free time in the afternoon  to discover Sapa town and Sapa Market. Dinner at  the  hotel or restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 : Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Sapa (B-L-D).
8:00 AM – Breakfast in hotel.
9:00 AM – Begin trekking from Sapa towards Muong Hoa valley where we can admire magnificent landscapes.
11:30 AM – Trek through Y Linh Ho village with Black H`mong tribe.
12:30 PM – Break for delicious lunch in the local house near by Muong Hoa stream.
1:15 PM – Keep trekking through lush rice-terraces towards Lao Chao village to experience Black H`mong people`s daily life and traditional culture.
Continue walking to Tavan village where you can see  the Zay minority people with very colorful tradition clothes and scarp where you can see homestay if you stay overnight there ,
3:00 PM – Walk to the bridge where you get the jeep or car  back to Sapa for shower
5: 00 PM – Dinner before you get the bus back to Lao Cai for the night train back to Hanoi

Night 3 : Lao Cai – Hanoi.

5:00 AM – Arrive at Tran Quy Cap Train Station.

Day 4: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Ho Chi Min (B,L)

Our guide will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel (Old Quarter) from 8 AM-8.30 AM.

We will drive 3-3.30 hours to get to Halong Bay (Bai Chay Harbour – the biggest Habour in Halong Bay). You will enjoy the beauty of rice fields with busy farmer working using Vietnam traditional methods of cultivation on the way (We have a break 30 mins in the middle)

Check in the boat cruise at noon, while lunch has been prepared by Crews on Cruise. While having lunch, the Caption will drive the Boat Cruising around the most magnificent bay and among thousands of islands that jut out of the sea with its spectacular natural environment – you will also have the opportunity to stop at two of the many grottoes.

The stop of 4-hour cruise is Dong Thien Cung (Heavenly Palace Grotto), located on a remote island in the bay. As the name suggests, the cave adorned with fantastic stalactites and stalagmites. Colored lights transform the scene into a fairytale palace.
We will come back Harbour around 4:00 PM and we will stop at a break in the middle of the way. You have a chance to go to the restroom or have a drink.

Arriving at about 8.00 – 8.30 pm in Hanoi and airport transfer for Ho Chi Minh City.

Our team will pick you up on arrival and drive to check in the hotel in Ho Chi Minh for the night.

Day 5: HO CHI MINH – CITY TOUR (B,L)

Morning, at 07.30am, start the city tour in Ho Chi  Minh. We start the trip by visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, the historic Central Post Office, followed by exploring the Reunification Palace, and the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum, (Drop you off at Ben Thanh Market for shopping if we have enough time).

Afternoon, leave Ho Chi Minh for Cu Chi. Explore Cu Chi Tunnels. Located 60km from HCMC, Cu Chi is now a popular spot for both Vietnamese & foreign tourists – the network of over 200km of tunnels became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens. Finish the tour at around 05.30pm.

Day 6: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta (B,L)

8.00, Leave Ho Chi Minh city, enjoy the scenic journey along the National Highway bordered by green rice fields. On arrival at My Tho, take a leisurely boat ride along the river, view stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages along the river bank. Proceed to Tortoise islet, have lunch in the orchard garden. Then a boat ride to An Khanh – a less touristy attraction in Ben Tre, enjoy cruising on a hand-rowed sampan under the shade of water coconut trees along natural canals. Then enjoy seasonal fruit & honey tea to the sound of “Southern Vietnamese folk music”, performed by the locals. Visit a family business which epitomizes the idyllic rural lifestyle, taste delicious coconut candy & observe the pastoral life as you roam through the fruit plantations and villages. Back to the city and stay overnight

Day 7: Ho Chi Minh – SiemReap (B)

Morning, enjoy breakfast at hotel. After that, we transfer you to airport for flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, our driver waits you at airport and takes you to hotel. Spend your little leisure time in the morning.

Afternoon, visit Beng Mealea. A spectacular sight to behold, Beng Mealea. located 40 km east of the main group of temples at Angkor, Beng Mealea is one of the most mysterious temples at Angkor, as nature has well and truly run riot. Exploring this titanic of temples, built to the same floorplan as Angkor Wat, is the ultimate Indiana Jones experience. Built in the 12th century under Suryavarman II, Beng Mealea is enclosed by a massive moat measuring 1.2km by 900m.

Day 8: Siemreap – Angkor Thom – Angkor Wat – Departure (B,L)

In the morning, visit to the antique capital of Angkor Thom (literally: “Great City”), located in present day Cambodia, was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. Continue your visit at the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, the Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Continue your visit to Ta Prohm, one of the most beautiful temples in Angkor. Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), Ta Som, built in late 12th century C.E. the most distant temple on the grand circuit, small but classic.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture.

Before ending the tour today, enjoy wonderful sunset scenery from the Top of Phnom Bakhen Hill.

Transfer to Siem Reap airport for your departure flight.
